The best romantic gangster movie in years. Bob Hoskins is unforgettable as a sweet thug whose feelings go to his fists. Go to Full Review

Mona Lisa reeks of noirishness. Worse, it reeks of intellectualized noirishnesss. But the whole movie has some of the potency of cheap music that’s represented by the title song. I succumbed. Go to Full Review

George is a brilliant creation — part hapless clown, part two-bit criminal, he is the beating heart of this gritty little British film. Go to Full Review

Leia L Oct 14, 2018 A reminiscent of 'Taxi Driver', of course, this movie is, but in its own enjoyable manner, with British flavour. Filled with outstanding performances from the main cast, and especially Bob Hoskins. See more
Hagrid S Apr 15, 2018 "Mona Lisa," based on the screenplay by Neil Jordan and David Leland, is not a successful fusion of the drama and crime genres. The approach is to welcome us into George and Simone's disreputable worlds through their personal interactions, but it sacrifices the complexity of their relationships. As a result, the big picture is a blur for the most part. This is problematic because the third act, including the climax, involves life or death situations. I found myself indifferent toward who lives or dies. See more
