Critics Consensus

Miss Julie definitely gives Jessica Chastain and Colin Farrell room to shine, but neglects to leave them a solid enough setting to augment their efforts.

Liv Ullmann's adaptation of August Strindberg's play might best be billed as a midsummer night's sex tragedy. It is on the overwrought side.

Well scripted, acted, with amazing directing. This film is poetry in motion.

This movie tries too hard to be profound. Total borefest. Don't understand the critics who state this movie is about struggle over power and dominance. It's really about two crazy people getting on each other's nerves.

Latest movie adaption of August Strindberg play exploring on the strain relationship between countess, Miss Julie( Jessica Chastain) and her young servant, John( Colin Farrell). At times plays like a stage play.

Disappointingly slow and disenchanting to watch. The characters are intense and trying to break the barriers of their rank but fail to evoke any strong emotions from this viewer.

If I could give less than one star I would. It was a waste of time, it had NOTHING redeemable.
