FBI agent Jake Harris (Val Kilmer) escorts a group of cadets to a remote island for simulation training. The cadets, under the leadership of J.D. (Christian Slater), will try to catch an imaginary serial killer within the island's elaborate facility. The FBI, however, is suspicious of Harris' methods and dispatch Gabe Jensen (LL Cool J) to act as an outside observer. What he finds is a simulation exercise that becomes dangerously real and training that becomes a fight for survival.

Critics Consensus

A retread of Ten Little Indians that lacks the source material's wit.

It was supposed to open in the spring of 2003, but they kept pushing back the release date. They should have kept pushing. Go to Full Review

Evidently, these young FBI geniuses were just on a collective undercover assignment to infiltrate the Melrose Avenue club scene, because their disguise consists of half-grown (or half-ungrown) beards, shaggy hair, [and] insouciant wisecracking attitudes. Go to Full Review

A silly retread of And Then There Were None only with the most inept crew of budding profilers. Morris is bland and Lee Miller's accent is atrocious, but the deaths are solid. Mindhunters isn't a good movie, but it is a fun movie. Go to Full Review

There's suspense from the guessing game, though the big reveal is underwhelming and unconvincing; too many contrived things take place for any of this to make much sense. Go to Full Review

The sloppily made suspense thriller was deservedly ripped by most critics and was a financial flop. Go to Full Review

Theodore S May 14, 2017 "Someone in this room is a murderer", goes the typical Agatha Christie potboiling thriller, which herein gets a modern update of a twist: "someone in this room of highly trained FBI serial killer profilers is a serial killer profiling us!" Yeah. So, some little fun. See more
Finn G Jul 4, 2011 The film is let down by Harlin at the helm. The filmmaker is a safe choice for the action beats, but the character moments are eye rolling or time passing at best. Val Kilmer and Christian Slater are the only real reason to watch this film and offer a glimmer of hope, but sadly the overall film is a mess. The concept was interesting and in the right hands could have been a guilty pleasure. I watched this again as I had some down time and thought it might have grown into something better, but sadly it's still the average thriller it was all those years ago. A mess of storytelling and clearly had some behind the scenes issues that were hard to disguise. There are better thrillers out there. 29/03/2019 See more
Rey P Jan 31, 2008 Fun but silly thriller that feels like an episode of CSI in the world of Final Destination. I do think the film genuinely succeeds at keeping the audience guessing the killer's identity until the end. See more
