The sfx bombardment can't hide a lack of sense and substance. Go to Full Review
Alexander Walker London Evening Standard Jan 10, 2018
The whole film may be more than a bit suspect cerebrally, with dime-store philosophy, potted mysticism and cut-price otherworldliness, but visually it gives full value as a virtuoso workout for your senses. Go to Full Review
Barbara Ellen The Times (UK) Jan 2, 2018
Indeed, if you loved the first Matrix and its mix of comic-book angst, martial arts, virtual reality, video-game punch-ups, pop philosophy, biblical subtext, romance, tragedy and pathos, then you won't be disappointed. Go to Full Review

In a genre dominated by fan service, “requels” (see also, The Force Awakens), and movies devoid of philosophical dilemmas or subtext, The Matrix Reloaded feels like a unicorn. The Wachowskis made it as a personal statement. Go to Full Review

They don't come up with anything new, but it's bigger, louder, and mighty impressive, even if the dialogue sounds more and more like a preprogrammed video game. Go to Full Review
Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review Jul 12, 2022

The film entertains despite its structural shortcomings, as the Wachowskis have created a cinematic world that’s a pleasure to experience, even though it’s not as satisfying as its predecessor. Go to Full Review

Ron S Apr 18, 2019 My all-time favorite movie franchise.
Hagrid L Apr 12, 2019 Had its moments... doesn't hold up in 2019
See more
George S Mar 19, 2019 Didn't really like this when it first came out since it just doesn't live up to the first movie. It's not nearly as profound and relies heavily on action scenes. That said, after re-watching it and comparing it to other sci-fi rather than its prequel, it is a solid movie. Watch this and Revolutions together since they are really 1 long movie divided up for business reasons. The scenery in this one is excellent. See more
Kylo G Mar 9, 2019 This was not as good as I had hoped. Only slightly better than average because I am invested in the characters.
George R Mar 9, 2019 One of the worst sequels to blow what could have been a major franchise. Zion orgy? Did we really need that? Also Neo's powers are kinda disappointing. Why couldn't he change or shape the matrix how he saw fit (like the man born inside it). Cool car chase...but CGI throughout the movie was so excessive it makes it very disjointed and hard to re-watch. See more
