Despite being rife with crime, sex and darkness, Manhattan Night feels increasingly like a cheap ripoff of the genre it so very much wants to fit into. Go to Full Review

Director DeCubellis is frightfully beholden to the tropes of the genre, and the premise (involving blackmail, strange dares and an inexplicable horse story) is just not credible. Go to Full Review
Bruce Diones The New Yorker May 30, 2016
The thrilling twists and turns of Harrison's plot are here, but DeCubellis's hazy pacing drains the film of the book's zest. Though great material mishandled is frustrating to view, there are nonetheless some bright spots. Go to Full Review

As the movie slowly winds its way toward its anti-climatic final scenes it becomes clear that no amount of stylish direction or outrageous characters can make up for the far-fetched and convoluted story. Go to Full Review

It's probably not something worth rushing out to cinemas for, but it's great afternoon viewing with a pack of smokes and a glass of scotch at the ready. Go to Full Review

The payoff surprises by extending sympathy in unexpected directions. Besides, the stars really do look the part, with Brody making a convincingly dogged sleuth, while Strahovski is every inch the dangerously seductive siren. Go to Full Review

Poe S Sep 7, 2018 Good beat to the movie. Powerful acting and decent build up. Love the noir elements and the characters. Pretty superficial though. See more
Theodore R Jan 27, 2018 I thoroughly enjoyed this compelling neo-noir thriller! All of the characters were very well drawn, performing in a beautifully paced film shot with a subtly unique visual style. It kind of reminded me a little bit of late Polanksi, with it's gorgeous and spacious low-angle shots. The story has a couple twists that definitely caught me off guard and over all I feel like the film is created with a subtle but definite originality. It's neo-noir, myster, thriller so obviously there will be some genre turns that folks might find expected, but it definitely deserves a much better rating. Looking forward to seeing more from the director! See more
George W Dec 11, 2017 You have to understand film noir to understand this film. This one is worthy of a watch.
Albus R Nov 28, 2017 This movie is so bad that while I was watching it I started to worry about what must have happened to Adrien Brody to cause him to stoop so low See more
Luke M Nov 25, 2017 DeCubellis weaves us down a film noir path in this welcomed resurgence of the classic murder multiple mystery that keeps it's audience surmising till it's final shot. Beautifully shot and smartly performed by a strong cast, Manhattan Night is a welcome diversion from the two dimensional films of similar genre. See more
Leia R Nov 4, 2017 This movie was brilliant. The fools on the "tomatometer" are idiots. They need to stop doing drugs or snorting something illegal. Their reviews suck. A great story line, a great plot, and a twisted ending. Ignore the fools who write the majority of the crappy reviews. They wouldn't know a good movie if it bit them on the ass. Watch this movie. Highly recommended. See more
