When U.S. Marine Gabriel Drummer (Shia LaBeouf) returns from Afghanistan, he finds the place he once called home is no better than the battlefields he fought on overseas. Accompanied by his best friend, a hard-nosed Marine whose natural instinct is to shoot first and ask questions later, Gabriel searches desperately for his estranged son and his wife, leading to a suspect who has vital information about their location.

What to Know

Critics Consensus

Well-intentioned but overall misjudged, Man Down makes an unfortunately muddled attempt to mine thoughtful drama out of modern warfare's emotional wreckage.

Shia LaBeouf delivers a superb performance in a film that is otherwise misjudged on almost every level. Go to Full Review

What's unfortunate is how the film's complex themes become casualties of the film's ultimate ineptitude. Go to Full Review

MAN DOWN attempts to cram a murky mass of plot and emotion into an hour-and-a-half of screen time. In the process, little of its meaning survived, and we're left with an appalling film. Go to Full Review

Han W Mar 21, 2019 Wow absolutely incredible movie with the most surprising plot twist I've ever seen in a movie. Shia was incredible as well, very surprised. See more
Mar 17, 2019 excellent film sur les stress post traumatique, un sujet très souvent incompris...
Dec 10, 2018 It starts slow, however you must watch it till the end. The truth hurts and the reality of a lot of our veterans is the ending of this movie. Our veterans need help, mental illness is real! See more
Ron P Oct 4, 2018 While confusing at first, everything makes sense in the end. The acting by Shia Labeouf was outstanding along with the rest of the cast. It is easy to get lost if you aren't paying attention because of the constant back and forth flashback. This is definitely an exaggeration on the problems with mental illness and PTSD, but is still a compelling film. See more
Jun 1, 2018 Must see movie. Real as it gets
Theodore W Apr 2, 2018 Without a doubt the most underrated film ever made.
