In the decade since his fiancée was killed, an Army Ranger, Green Beret and Navy SEAL rolled into one has sworn off fighting crime, preferring instead to rock his mullet as a man of peace. But when his sworn enemy, Dieter Von Cunth, steals a nuclear warhead, only MacGruber and his crack team of experts are equal to the task of bringing the villain to justice.

Critics Consensus

It too often mistakes shock value for real humor, but MacGruber is better than many SNL films -- and better than it probably should be.

Kristen Wiig lends it a bit of class as the hero's moll, Vicki St Elmo, but Forte is a pain, the scatological crudity unrelenting, and the air of pointlessness unignorable.

A brash, intermittently funny, but predictably disposable movie, just about good enough for a switch-off-brain DVD rental.

An action-comedy-thriller (although the term "dud" is better), MacGruber is based on a recurring American Saturday Night Live sketch -- a joke funny for 20 seconds, but not 99 minutes.

This is an action-comedy that forgot the action part of its equation, leaving only the base comedy to entertain us. Unfortunately, that isn’t enough.

Viewers will eventually be struck by the realization that Requiem for a Dream and Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire combined contained more belly laughs.

"I will literally suck your dick." A fitting quote from MacGruber, because all I could think about was how many Hollywood producers had to get their dick's sucked to go through with this pile. Magruber is hot garbage, the very essence of banal humor loved by middle aged men with Junior High sensibilities. This movie salvaged a star because I was crying after the ridiculous sex scene. That said, I would rather stick my left arm in a wood chipper than endure MacGruber again.

One of the best films of the last half century. Will Forte is a treasure. Kristen Wiig and Maya Rudolph are extraordinary. A brilliant and criminally underrated dark comedy.

Low brow comedy of a bad Bond definitely too amateurish. More creepy than funny. Incredible what some actors would do. Some good jokes here and there.

A witty, hilarious Movie,!!! As a minor spoiler, it also holds the honour of having the most intense onscreen death of a character-- in an LOL sort of way!! Likely not to happen, but one can only hope for MacGruber 2!!!
