The picture is too busy with laughs to worry much about chills, but no one ought to complain about that. Go to Full Review

This stylish Victorian melodrama/murder mystery is less a thriller than a witty cat-and-mouse game played with both the audience and the target. Go to Full Review

The juxtaposition between [humor] and the grimmer elements such as forensic examinations ... feels super, super weird, but the film remains compelling for plenty of other reasons that can smooth out the jarring switches. Go to Full Review

Kylo R Jan 21, 2019 Lucille Ball is an American taxi-dancer living in London whose roommate has disappeared. The missing girl had left to answer a job offer in the "personal" column of the Times...just like several other women who've vanished without a trace. Scotland Yard detective George Zucco suggests that Ball answer the personals herself in hopes trapping the killer. She crosses the paths of several eccentrics, including deranged artist Boris Karloff, who for a brief time is the prime suspect. The actual culprit, a sex murderer, is the least likely and most helpful of Ball's contacts -- a fact that she learns almost too late See more
Draco G Jan 20, 2019 A wonderful film noir. The cinematography alone makes viewing the movie worth your time. But the cast and story are top notch, too. See more
Luke W Jan 15, 2019 Not quite a noir, and--despite its whodunit storyline--not really a thriller, either. A pre-TV Lucille Ball stars as an American dancer in London who becomes entangled in the hunt for a serial killer. Ball has beauty, charm, and sass to spare, but is never believable as a decoy for hire, and the plot, which telegraphs its limited twists and turns from clear across the Thames, is not only predictable but far-fetched. (Why the cops didn't dispatch a policewoman to trap the killer is never fully explained.) With George Sanders, Cedric Hardwicke, Charles Coburn, and (in an odd little role) Boris Karloff. For Lucy-lovers only. See more
Kylo W Jan 13, 2019 Amateurish but stylish film. Great cast but not much of a thriller. George Sanders was hansome and well cast. But, Lucille Ball's acting was really poor and unconvincing. I found her the weak point in an otherwise strong cast. She looked lovely though. See more
Poe R Nov 13, 2018 Good cast, adequate script, watchable movie. Thumbs up.
Leia R Sep 6, 2017 Fantastic who-dunnit! May not be that suspenseful but the humor and snap throughout the movie are priceless! Lucille Ball is in top form and ably supported by a stellar cast lead by Sanders, Coburn and Hardwicke. And Karloff's turn is brilliant! See more
