Lucas (Corey Haim) is an unusually bright teenager whose nerdy looks and meek demeanor make him a favorite target for bullies. His life at school seems to improve when he befriends Maggie (Kerri Green), a cute new girl whose love interest, Cappie (Charlie Sheen), protects him from harassment. However, despite his friend Rina's (Winona Ryder) clear affection for him, Lucas falls for Maggie, and in a final effort to impress her, joins the high school football team.

... director David Seltzer has kept it low-key, sweet and personal -- it's like a nice "Afterschool Special." Go to Full Review

Lucas is as irresistible as its slight, brilliant, bespectacled 14-year-old hero (Corey Haim). Go to Full Review

Having carefully and sensitively drawn an interesting character and put him in an interesting place, the filmmakers start painting with their fingers and ultimately provide a very familiar picture. Go to Full Review

The kids in Lucas are remarkably normal, like people you'd have seen rooting around in the locker next to yours in high school. Go to Full Review

Poe G May 27, 2018 Story about young love. Really corny too. Corey Haim is very good. So is Charlie Sheen. The only actor I didn't like was Kerri Green. Way too sweet and girly. Feel good movie from the 80's that is still fairly good. See more
Kylo S Nov 20, 2017 There is nothing annoying, wrong, weird, confusing, or stupid about this movie. It is sweet, innocent, and just so great. The performances are really great. See more
Harry R Sep 3, 2017 Corey Haim was a star and someone people only thought was going to get better. He may have if not for the tragic turn his story took in the 90s. But we have his early work. And this is one of the best. Sheen, Ryder and Piven also turn in very early but memorable roles. Especially Ryder. She shows just a tiny teaser of what's to come in her celebrated career. I'm so glad she is back. See more
Theodore L Apr 17, 2017 I feel that everyone can relate a bit to Lucas at one time in their childhood. Was a very endearing and entertaining movie. Very young Corey haim, wynona Ryder and Charlie sheen. See more
Albus G Jan 28, 2017 A bit cheesy, but charming in the end, also Winona Ryder <3
Finn P Aug 9, 2007 10/9/2017 (2): A nice movie with a pretty famous cast. A good movie, but not something entertaining enough for multiple viewings. See more
