The best thing Love, Simon did for queer media was pave the way for Love, Victor, its superior spinoff series...nevertheless, the latter wouldn’t exist without the former, and for that, I will always hold a soft spot in my heart for Berlanti’s adaptation.

This is how you use the rom-com formula to create a fresh, coming-of-age movie. Love, Simon is delightfully cheesy and wonderfully predictable as it tells a sweet, funny and smart teen love story with a heartwarming happy ending. It's well-written, well-acted, and has got a smashing soundtrack. To think it took this long for a movie like this one to get made is outrageous. Let's hope 2018 is only the start of a streak of great movies that inspire diversity and inclusivity.
