Logan's Run overcomes its campier elements and undercooked plot with a bounty of rousing ideas and dashing sci-fi adventure.

Never was a sci-fi film so infected with the ruling national belief that young is beautiful. Logan and Jessica regard the lines in the old man’s face as an offense against aesthetics. Go to Full Review

A numbing combination of sloppy writing, vulgar art direction, high school acting, and bungled special effects. Go to Full Review

Fundamentally, this is just further proof of Hollywood's untiring ability to reduce all science fiction to its most feeble stereotypes. Go to Full Review

What's missing is originality in the plot. Some good ideas are established in the beginning, but they're jettisoned in favor of the "Man against the System" story that turns up in at least one sci-fi film a year. Go to Full Review

Anakin W Apr 1, 2019 Even though it's from the 1970's the story holds up better than quasi remake In Time. It's a blast.
Hagrid L Mar 27, 2019 This is a film that hasn't aged well because, though it has a futuristic plot of some interest, it's poorly written. The story is set in a distant future date where no one lives past age 30. There might be a chance if they make it through "Carousel"... a get a second life lottery. There are people who become "runners," run away to escape their 30 year old demise, who hide in an abandoned area of the city. They are supposed to know the location of a place called "Sanctuary," where runners escape to to live out their lives. The computer in charge of the futuristic city where "Sandman" Logan 5 lives, decides to send the runner-killer on a mission to find Sanctuary to kill escaped runners. However Logan, and a young woman in the Sanctuary resistence, decides to accompany Logan in an attempt to find this place of free-living people. The turtle pace and weak writing, plus an implausible ending make this a waste of time for real sci-fi film fans. Peter Ustinov shuffles in at the last moment, but even a wonderful actor can't salvage a mediocre movie. Just wish TCM would quit showing it as if it's a film classic. It isn't. See more
Mar 8, 2019 I just love this movie and would like a great remake.
Poe R Feb 27, 2019 Absolutely brilliant - and dated - dystopian film that reeks of 1970's awesomeness.
Theodore S Nov 30, 2018 I like the futuristic feel of it all. he music the look. The beginning sequence reminds me of Disney and how all the parks are connected through mom rails. It's quite impressive how you can't really tell if the outside is large in size or if it's miniature model sized. A lot of work and detail went into making the world they live in. This is so odd. It all of a sudden became a cult-like community with all those white robes. And everyone is wearing the same shit. It's kind of twisted how everyone is getting together to watch these faceless people be "renewed", which is just another word for dying and coming back as a baby. It kind of reminds me of the beginning of '1984'. The whole utopian thing. Pretty interesting ideas and concepts in this movie. A lot of detail and thought went into it. That's terrifying to know that a computer that can take years away from your life is what you have to take orders from. I get that the movie was done in the 70's and production was probably not that great but look at what Stanley was able to do with 2001. In his case, using less was more and look at how believable and amazing the production was. Damn, the chick has a nice ass under that clothes. That nightclub scene looked awesome. I love the Old Man. He's so nonchalant and carefree. Doesn't even care about how old he is or care for his name. So charming. The opposite of what it was like to live in the city. The movies message is important. It shows the importance of aging and how young and old people can get along and co mingle amongst each other and how each one can learn from the other. The people that lived in the city were lied to all this time. I think the reason they made people "renew" themselves, which is just another way of saying kill themselves, was because of space inside the dome. Overpopulation. They wanted people living a specific life for a specific period of time. The props and sets were super outdated and aged. But the story, ideas, and concepts were pretty fresh. Good movie. See more
Abraham W Nov 25, 2018 The acting is horrible, but so is everything else about the movie.
