A confident and startling debut, Bescond and Métayer's film will make you laugh and cry. It is a compelling and necessary story in the era of #MeToo, and one that will no doubt be important to survivors of abuse as well as film lovers.

This spiky, occasionally soapy but ultimately deeply moving film draws power from its raggedness, making us uncomfortable even beyond the disturbing events it recounts, because its truths refuse to be tidy.

Little Tickles is an important film that shows the power childhood sexual abuse has over the victims that often continues long after the events have stopped. Based on Andréa Bescond's prize-winning autobiographical stage play, Little Tickles, effectivrly uses humor, flashbacks, and insertion of current day characters set in the midst of the flashback sequences, think Ghost of Christmas Past and Scrooge, to present the devestation and lifelong shaping and control of Lise abuse so often has with Children. While presented with utmost care and sensitivity, the scenes where the abuse occurs convey the soulless nature that is sexual abuse of a child, and perhaps most importantly depicts the grooming process of both parents and victims.
