A tale of a young girl's close encounter with the galaxy's most wanted extraterrestrial. Lilo is a lonely Hawaiian girl who adopts a small ugly "dog," whom she names Stitch. Stitch would be the perfect pet if he weren't in reality a genetic experiment who has escaped from an alien planet and crash-landed on Earth. Through her love, faith and unwavering belief in ohana, the Hawaiian concept of family, Lilo helps unlock Stitch's heart and gives him the ability to care for someone else.

It's a bright, engaging bauble with half a dozen Elvis Presley songs for Mom and Dad, and just enough sass -- Stitch sticks his tongue into his nose and eats his snot -- to keep the tweeners giggling.

This is a beautiful story about family, and the struggles to it together. One of the best aspects: the humans feel real! You feel angry when they feel angry, scared when they feel scared, sad when they feel sad, ect. The peak of sadness is when they sing Aloha Oi in a sad, "This is the end" way. Admittedly, Stitch was all over the advertisements, but I feel that was a bait-and-switch to draw in crowds. He is adorable and a welcomed relief to all the sadness and seriousness of the movie, but even with his superstength, he can't hold the movie by miself, he needs his Ohana, and they need him. While the scifi element does seem a bit shoe-horned in, every hero needs an origin. "Ohana means family. Family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten." Also, 9/11 or not, I'm glad they changed the climax's chase scene. They were originally going to steal a commercial airliner and dog fight (pun intended) with an alien space ship through a Hawaiian city? What the Heck was Disney Thinking?!?!
