One of the wealthiest men in the world, Jean-Marc Clement (Yves Montand) is rich in money, but lacking in love. While seeking someone who adores him for his personality rather than his fortune, Clement learns that he is the subject of a satirical theater production. Unrecognized as he visits the play's set, Clement is offered the part as himself by the show's unwitting producers, and he takes the gig to be close to the gorgeous yet down-to-earth actress Amanda Dell (Marilyn Monroe).

Cukor's old skill is evident in the bits of business he finds for his actors, the touches which build up sympathy, the unobtrusively accurate sense of where to place the camera and how to keep a flow of backstage action and dialogue moving. Go to Full Review

The majority of the comic routines fall flat, which is most unforgivable, though since the bulk of the romance is built upon a lie, this is one of those pictures in which the comedy components are necessary to overcome the enormousness of the deceit. Go to Full Review

Monroe is simply terrific, while Milton Berle is a riot in his glorified cameo. If only a more vibrant and charismatic leading man had been chosen! Go to Full Review

Let's Make Love is a disaster for everyone concerned... It is all a great pity because Miss Monroe has charm, naturalness and a real comedic gift. Go to Full Review

Han R Feb 18, 2019 Not a discernible plot, not a realistic relationship, not a good vehicle for Monroe. The songs are terrible, perhaps the worst heard for the time period in question. This movie sounds like 1940 instead of 1960. The audience is always rooting against the leading man. Is that how they think this works? Well, it doesn't work. This is Monroe's worst movie, which is not helped by the likes of Milton Berle, the self-promoting comedian who puffs himself up but never produces. Has anyone ever laughed at him? Not so good. Albus S Jan 6, 2019 Letâ(TM)s Make Love is proof positive of Marilyn Monroeâ(TM)s incredible talent and sex appeal. Her opening number is insanely adorable and tawdy. In director George Cukorâ(TM)s hands, these qualities mix beautifully with those of a clever compassionate multi dimensional woman. Yves Montand is sexy, hilarious and utterly charming in his role also. The on screen chemistry (possibly off screen too?) is hot hot hot. The two stars are joined by an unbelievable set of cameos and other excellent supporting cast. Thoroughly entertaining! If only Rom Coms were this chic today....le sigh. See more
Albus S Dec 1, 2017 alot of bad singing from both stars and also bad dancing...and bad acting...
