Though the jokey lines seem out of place, the somber tone of this 1998 action movie makes the political subtext more sincere and less grandiose than usual. Go to Full Review

The last blast of the summer is an exuberantly cheesy action opus featuring Jean-Claude Van Damme and Rob Schneider as an improbable pair of gung-ho heroes. Go to Full Review

If someone were to make a parody of what an avant-garde Jean-Claude Van Damme Hong Kong action comedy might look like, Knock Off is a good approximation. Go to Full Review

As for the humor, that’s provided by Rob Schneider, who’s to comedy what a tidal wave is to a child’s sand castle. Go to Full Review

You have seen "Knock Off" before. And you didn't like it then, either. Sure, it may have had a different title and maybe a Dolph Lundgren or a Brandon Lee in the starring role instead of Jean-Claude Van Damme. But the premise has always been the same. Go to Full Review

Leia L Feb 27, 2019 Even by the low standards of a Jean Claude Van Damme movie Knock off is an abomination. It's amazing how boring an action movie can be when there's absolutely no point to all of the sound and fury. Staying awake is a chore, and stifling an occasional yawn is impossible. The editing is so chaotic I couldn't even understand who was who at times. Knock Off's plot lacks even a semblance of coherency. I think the basic idea is to completely baffle the viewers, so they don't immediately realize how bad things are. Nevertheless, in spite of the Freddy Krueger-style editing and the infantile screenwriting I eventually managed to figure out the general direction in which things were heading. That's not to intimate that anything makes sense, since the flimsy storyline and flimsier "character development" are just excuses for loud, flashy gunfights, martial arts demonstrations, and digitally-enhanced explosions (which look fake). Luke G Jan 25, 2019 No Really, If You Sit Back, Relax & Just go With It..It Ain't Too Bad. The Combination Of JCVD & A Fast-Paced Story, A Schooled Director At The Helm, & It's Pretty Damn Good. Rob Schinder Happens Around For A Bit Of Comic Relief. If There Was A Bit More Of His Antics, It'd Rock Out Even More. The Action Sequences Are Swish, Smooth & Hard To Faulter..Soundtrack Ain't Winning It That Much, Neither Are The Cheap Special Effects..But As I Said, It's Not The Worse Action-Mixed-Martial-Arts Film, It's Enjoyable If You Given It A Chance.
