What to Know

Critics Consensus

King of Thieves unites an incredible cast for a heist movie brimming with potential -- most of which, sadly, evaporates long before the end credits have started to roll.

It's kind of a mishmash of tones... [But] these guys could just sit around and have tea and talk and it would be enormously watchable. Go to Full Review

The Hatton Gardens heist was a ballsy operation. You can't say the same about King of Thieves. Go to Full Review

A disappointingly dour affair and not exactly the rollicking adventure about a bunch of old geezers pulling off a successful heist that we might have expected. Go to Full Review

Once the heist itself has been pulled off we see the men slowly let their greed take over. They start to mistrust one another, never fully aware of just how much they’ve snagged. This can and has worked before, but it doesn’t here. Go to Full Review

King of Thieves harbors no illusions about ensnaring the viewer's nostalgia for the British gangster films that inspired it, nor does it hesitate to shower affection onto its cast. Go to Full Review

Luke W Apr 5, 2019 Between 2.5 and 3. The story is interesting, but there are certain moments when action and plot decay and make it boring or unbearable. But, in general, you can watch it. See more

Ron P Mar 8, 2019 It's a weird wedding...a much better film than the narrative allows. A complete antidote to all those honour amongst thieves tropes. Briiliant acting, some wonderful close-up camera work and some smart direction can't sadly make-up for some dreadful editing which can't seem to decide whether this is Hollywood or just a very good film. Finn L Mar 6, 2019 This sat too much in the middle for me. It could have gone a lot harder and I feel it should. It did have some funny bits but it didn't flow together very well. It was great to see Charlie Cox in something different See more
Leia P Mar 5, 2019 Wow - what a movie! This gang of veteran actors should have you laughing from beginning to end. Fart jokes, alzheimer's, diabetes! This movie upends all aging phobias. Delicious! See more
Mar 2, 2019 Starts off full of promise. Poor finish
