With his gangster boss (Tony Lo Bianco) on trial for murder, a mob thug known as "the Teacher" (Alec Baldwin) tells Annie Laird (Demi Moore) she must talk her fellow jurors into a not-guilty verdict, implying that he'll kill her son Oliver (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) if she fails. She manages to do this, but, when it becomes clear that the mobsters might want to silence her for good, she sends Oliver abroad and tries to gather evidence of the plot against her, setting up a final showdown.

What to Know

Critics Consensus

Self-serious despite its abundance of trite twists, The Juror is a drab thriller that audiences may hold in contempt.

Moore needs The Juror like she needs another scarlet letter; the 'D-for-dopey' here is hanging down to everyone's knees. Go to Full Review

Without revealing plot twists, I will say that the movie goes on a long while -- a very long while -- after the trial is over, and that a trip to the jungles of Guatemala is unnecessary, to put it mildly. Go to Full Review

At first glance, this seems like another typical "woman being victimized" movie that's pretty predictable, but its ending may surprise you. Go to Full Review

Tremendously trashy courtroom drama that improves as its silly premise just keeps on getting, well, sillier. Go to Full Review

The film's uneven atmosphere is especially disappointing given the irresistible, seemingly foolproof premise and effectiveness of the stars' performances... Go to Full Review

A tightly-wound thriller that succeeds to the degree it does because of Alec Baldwin's sinister performance, which somehow captures the pathos of his monstrous character. Go to Full Review

Leia P Jan 6, 2018 The acting of the entire cast is spot on, and a seamless script/cinematography is very hard to find nowadays. This should be known as a classic thriller- at the top with Hitchcock. These reviewers don't know quality when they see it. See more
Finn S Jan 4, 2018 This very 90s and very average thriller is more enjoyable now because of the stellar cast but this is an awkward movie that never finds it's footing. Demi Moore is perfectly fine playing against type but she is not given much to do until the final few scenes. Alec Baldwin turns off the charm and is a little creepy but never as menacing as the film thinks he is. Anne Heche has a small role and an awful death...she is force fed pain killers after having coitus with Baldwin in a rather awkward and silly scene. James Gandolfini rounds off the cast and is completely wasted. The plot of the film is pretty basic: Demi Moore is a juror and the mob targets her to get a no guilty verdict. Baldwin plays the mob enforcer trying to intimidate her but his performance is uneven and Demi Moore's role is to just go along with it. When the trial is over she is finally approached by the prosecutors and fights back but the ending seems tacked on and is pretty silly. See more
Draco R Nov 5, 2017 Terrific thriller sadly gone under hammer of : Under rate !
Anakin R Sep 10, 2009 Good cast but the screenplay is pretty predictable.
