Critics Consensus

This inferior rehash of The Jungle Book should have gone straight to video.

Disney's sequel to the story of Mowgli and his jungle companions leaves out the name of Rudyard Kipling on the credits. No loss. It could well have left out the name of Disney. Go to Full Review

Ok for kids, but not the most inspired sequel. Go to Full Review

Is there any other reason Disney would throw in three reprises here of the original's hit song, 'Bare Necessities' if it were not to disguise this film's 'Unnecessary Indulgence'? Go to Full Review

The catchiness of the original songs can't be matched with the jazzier and updated soundtrack, even as this follow-up recycles melodies from 1967. Go to Full Review

Not a good movie, and probably better left unwatched. Which, for a DisneyToon sequel, is actually a pretty good place to land. Go to Full Review

The characters giggle too much (as hyper-cute Saturday morning animated offerings will do), the music isn't as well integrated into the story, and the humans come across like an Indian version of The Cosby Show. Go to Full Review

Hermione M Mar 16, 2018 A clichê. Good film for a Sunday afternoon
Han R Oct 8, 2017 This sequel deserves nothing. It just milked-out out all of the positives of the original movie and instead left itself bland and unoriginal. The characters are less interesting, the story is thinner and predictable, the music is dreadful, and the enjoyment is not there. While the voice acting and animation was surprisingly decent, that won't save everything else that is terrible. I was glad that a third movie was never materialized after this sequel because most Disney sequels are terrible, including the Jungle Book 2. Please don't watch it. See more
Kylo S Sep 3, 2017 The jungle book is back oh ya!! I like this one more then the first one so we have some new characters now a girl leeward him in to the man Village, and that girl"s name is Shanti. Now Mowgli wants to go back to the jungle to see his friends such as Baloo and Baloo misses him as well but they meet back up! You know Bagheera is on the lookout asking Baloo where is the man cub he says I don't know but you know how Baloo does not wish to confess he is with me! Hay Bagheera is still on the lookout no matter what. Shere Chan is looking to get his revenge! Will that happen find out!!! I do find this to be a Comedy! Kids will like this with good songs and more! See more
Hermione M Aug 1, 2017 It has it's positive moments, but by the third time I heard "Bear Necessities" I was unengaged!
Draco L Jun 11, 2017 Like Return To Neverland, this should have been a straight-to-DVD Disney sequel. I mean, it has the same effort and quality put into a direct-to-video Disney sequel, so you might as well release it as one. Seriously, bringing it into theaters was pointless, and a stupid decision at that. See more
Harry S Jun 1, 2017 Fairly unnecessary and not a lot of fun.
