It could have been an exercise in "let's mock the provincials..." But the writer and the director (Angus McLachlan, Phil Morrison) are both from North Carolina, so each side in this meeting of opposites is both humanised and demonised. Go to Full Review

You can call Junebug an unwanted, but much needed homecoming, mostly celebrated by the hearty welcome of George's sister-in-law Ashley Johnsten, played by Amy Adams. Go to Full Review

...one of many reasons to love Junebug is how often it offers us spaces to fill in ourselves, the faith it shows in handing us small puzzles -- Eugene's hand-carved bird, for instance -- to chuckle over or think on afterward. Go to Full Review

I would recommend the film for Amy Adams's performance alone. The Catch Me If You Can star plays Ashley, an eternally optimistic young pregnant woman, doing her best to make the most out of a bad situation. Go to Full Review

Han W Apr 28, 2019 Def NOT a comedy, but a wonderfully told and filmed story.
Hermione W Mar 16, 2019 If you grew up in a small southern town and left - you will understand this move!
Theodore S Mar 16, 2019 Horrible, choppy, no flow, very little character development, slow moving, uninteresting dialogue and Amy Adams is horrible at acting pregnant. See more
Leia G Mar 14, 2019 i thought this was pretty good
Poe M Mar 9, 2019 I may not be sophisticated enough for Indy films because I always seem to find them lacking in plot development. I enjoy a good character study, but I did not see a lot of depth here. I think to adequately study a character something compelling has to happen and there has to be a purpose to the telling. This is as if someone turned on a camera in a family's life for a week and the turned it off 7 days later. There is no purpose to the story, the characters are not unique except for the fact that you have no idea why you are watching them. I found this on Netfix with no idea that it was a comedy. I am happy about that, because it wasnt the least bit funny. While watching I kept thinking something would pull the story together or there would be some purpose for shining a light on this family; i.e. the older brother slept with Amy Adams and it was his baby, which was why he stayed away and the reason for his brother's hatred; Amy Adams' character uses the lost screwdriver to extricate herself from her unhappy life, etc etc. But nothing really happens that would make this story worth the effort to watch. Maybe I just dont find people that interesting after all. See more
Kylo S Dec 22, 2017 Strange movie, but the characters are pretty amazing.
