What to Know

Critics Consensus

Writer-director Jeff Baena and an able cast of comedic actors strike a unique, disarmingly heartfelt blend of dark humor and tragedy with Joshy.

It's a fascinating depiction of the way men do -- or don't -- confront life's tragedies and traumas. Go to Full Review

You probably wouldn't want to spend that much time with these people yourself, but at least they're never boring. Go to Full Review

"Joshy" is like a weekend with random friends: fun and familiar, but rarely any deeper than the personalities involved. Don't look for more and you'll be fine. Go to Full Review

Joshy is a little underwhelming when you first watch it, but the more you think about it and let it marinate, it tends to grow on you. Go to Full Review

It takes Joshy a little while to find its footing after a truly shocking opening scene, but once it does there's a nice story about friendship in the toughest times. Go to Full Review

Finn W Mar 6, 2019 It's amusing to see reviewers think that this movie depicts how the majority of young men in America think and behave. This is a movie, made to keep you watching. No one would keep around "friends" like this. There really are other great people in the world that would be true friends. The movie in itself as a movie is fine. It is the reviews of this film that are fantastical. The film is a deliberate farce, milked for profit and enjoyment. What else did you expect? See more
Albus R Nov 11, 2018 I saw this with my boyfriend whose name is Josh and he thought this was a good movie for people called Josh because this movie is lit to watch yeet. See more
Poe R Aug 18, 2018 If you are cool you will enjoy this movie.
Jun 19, 2018 While I love the cast and premise, it isn't a very well written story. The dialogue was really good at times, but structurally, the story buckled under its own weight. See more
Jun 17, 2018 It's so awesome in a lot ways! I can not understand (and do not want to listen) why it's so underrated. Just go and watch it. Jesus, people. See more
Theodore P Sep 5, 2017 Terrible waste of time
