Still, if the film is ultimately disappointing it is in part because it begins so well, and there is a lot to enjoy before the over-the-top final act. Go to Full Review

I like Downey Jr, usually, with his dark wounded eyes, but here his performance veers between going though the motions and a look which seems to say, "Hey, what film am I doing again?" Go to Full Review

First L @dma12 Sep 26, 2025 Good movie recommended
Apr 28, 2019 Very pleased with this movie. I did not expect to fall in love with the MCU the way I did and I think it's a great way to start the MCU. Robert Downey Jr. is a perfect casting for Tony Stark and you can feel a real connection between Tony and Pepper. Iron Monger is a good idea for a villain, but in the end battle, he just falls a little short for me. However, there is not really major downtime in the rest of the movie, and it keeps the action running beautifully. 9.0/10 See more
Albus R Apr 27, 2019 Iron Man marks the start of the MCU and it does so with perfection. This movie deserves all the praise it has been given. The movie has great pacing, funny aspects, and exposes the audience to something they had never seen before. The biggest part of the movie is obviously Robert Downey Jr. He is in his absolute element here: He virtually plays himself. The character is written beautifully and exactly how you would expect Tony Stark to be. Without him this movie would be virtually nothing, but with him it becomes a great origin story to a character we will inevitably come to love even more than we do here. See more
Apr 26, 2019 Una obra sencilla con un futuro por delante de un Universo Filmico
Abraham P Apr 26, 2019 No one could have predicted Jon Favreau's ability to transform a C-list superhero into one of the most iconic movie characters of all time, but here we are years later and multiple entries in after the fact. Remarkably setting the precedent for the films to follow in every single way, 'Iron Man' houses one of the most synergistic marriages of character and actor in cinema history as Robert Downey Jr. plows through the scenery every second he's in front of the camera. Playing everyone's favorite genius, playboy, billionaire, philanthropist, Downey Jr.'s performance is all the more impressive as he layers Tony Stark's unstoppable charisma with the internal conflicts and regrets that'll thoughtfully drive the character forward in future installments, especially alongside the rest of a great supporting cast including Shaun Taub, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Jeff Bridges (an okay, if simplistic villain). That's to say nothing of Favreau's sleekly directed action featuring what's probably the coolest set of armor ever. See more
