Power-hungry King Hyperion (Mickey Rourke) and his ruthless army march across Greece, leaving burned-out villages and the corpses of the innocent in their wake. Hyperion's goal is to find the long-lost Bow of Epirus; with this invincible weapon, he can cast the gods out of Mount Olympus and become master of the world. What to Know

Critics Consensus

The melding of real sets, CG work, and Tarsem's signature style produces fireworks, though the same can't be said for Immortals slack, boring storytelling.

Tarsem's work is infinitely more exhilarating when he’s relieved of the need to be in any way serious. He should play dumb more often. Go to Full Review

It's handsome, but it looks as if the entire film was shot in a giant spray tanning booth. Kind of fun though. Go to Full Review

Overall, Immortals is a pretty decent popcorn flick. Will it stand the test of time? Probably not, but the provocative special effects will leave a lasting impression on the audience. Go to Full Review

Entertaining and at times exciting, there’s always something visually interesting onscreen, but the film is not a brainy experience by any means. Go to Full Review

...Singh is a good match for todays CGI uproar, and 2011s The Immortals gives him something worth chewing on; Greek mythology filtered through Hollywood moonshine... Go to Full Review

The film is fast-paced and the dialogue doesn't make your ears bleed... For incidental pleasures like these, I'm willing to forgive a swashbuckler a great deal of heterodox stupidity. Go to Full Review

Rey P Jan 15, 2019 Severly underrated movie. The quotes are excellent. The sound is excellent as well and is a must watch with high quality surround sound with sub woofers. Add 3D and its even better. Story line is great despite what people say. I have watches this several times. Sound levels are an important contribute to the emotion. See more
Anakin L Nov 26, 2018 I really enjoyed this film. I thought the action was good. I love the Greek myths. And, although there was obvious creative license taken ... still quite enjoyable. For me, this was in the same sort of category as "300." Pro critics can seriously stuff it. See more
Rey P Aug 15, 2018 Order is an illusion imposed on chaos. A god can therefore be understood as an ordering principal (pun intended). In the human world, Superman returns a corrupted and maniacal self-preservationist to the anonymous dirt in a way that parallels illusory order (Zeus) reasserting itself over very real chaos (the titans). Zeus recurs in Theseus, who by heeding the call sacrifices himself and achieves apotheosis. Immortality, it seems, evades those who seek it in favor of those who open themselves to the influence of timeless spirits. Maybe the entire concept of a hero is a framework through which a person of particular ability and animated by particular circumstances must recognize both a role in need of a player and his or herself as someone equipped to play it, a crucible for a hero-in-waiting to be confronted by a calling. Kylo R Jul 29, 2018 A great cast and some great fight scenes let down by the script and by the CGI effects which are used to excess. The movie looks as if it was all filmed in front of a green screen which left it hard for me to engage with what I was seeing and made it look like it was made on a cheap budget. Good performances though especially from Mickey Rourke . See more
Han P Jul 13, 2018 Poor story but good action sequences. A poor mans 300.
Harry W Nov 25, 2017 total and utter crap. Good cast but woeful script
