Mia Hall (Chloë Grace Moretz), a talented young cellist, thought the most difficult decision she would ever have to make would be whether to pursue her musical dreams at prestigious Juilliard or follow her heart to be with the love of her life, Adam (Jamie Blackley), a rock singer/guitarist. Although Chloë Grace Moretz gives it her all and the story adds an intriguing supernatural twist to its melodramatic YA framework, If I Stay is ultimately more manipulative than moving.

Grace Moretz is miscast in this drama that sidelines all of its secondary characters to focus on a romance that lacks any chemistry and director Cutler's lack of visual imagination is disappointing. Maybe the best YA parents since Easy A, though!

It's a study of life and loss, leaning heavily on the regret of building relationships only to see them disappear in the wink of an eye. Luckily Moretz's subtle performance prevents the movie from becoming a soap opera of despair.

The story and writing were spectacular. Chloë Grace Moretz's performance is what helped make the movie especially fantastic. The other cast gave great performances especially Jamie Blackley, Mireille Enos, Lauren Lee Smith, and Joshua Leonard. I loved the supernatural Part of the story. The movie is really sad but also happy at the same time. One of my favorite romance movies and one of my favorite movies ever.
