Despite a formulaic plot, the energetic and gritty How She Move is elevated by a commanding debut performance by Rutina Wesley.

The film does have great energy, and some fabulous dancing, but the script could have done with another draft. Go to Full Review

It's a familiar set-up, but while the story falls back on clichés and trite moral messages, a few dance scenes deliver in spectacular style. Go to Full Review

A film that is as comfortable and entertaining when its characters are still and silent as it is when they are exploding on the dance floor. Go to Full Review

How She Move is fun to watch while it's on its feet and moving. But when the music stops, so does our consideration. Go to Full Review

Shows that there's more to Canadian film than icy introspection, but it also shows they can wallow in formula as thickly as their Yank counterparts. Go to Full Review

Leia W Nov 3, 2011 the movie follows formula to a tee but Rutina Wesley's performance is the best part next to the incredible dancing scenes Raya just lost her sister so her mother cant keep her in private school, the only resort is to go back home to finish her education there's a lot of bad blood waiting for her since she's stepping into a world she left behind and she wants to get out of it so badly when a stomping dance crew competition presents itself Raya may just have a chance at getting a scholarship but she has to learn the moves and the respect by others who know way more about it than she does plus she isn't the only one who has it bad in this neighborhood there's also a strong female empowerment feel to the whole thing as guys get more of the cut from the winnings but Raya can change all that being part of an all-male crew unoriginal flick but lead by a strong actress with the passion as well as some pretty sweet dance moves See more
