Filmmaker Eli Roth tries to enliven the formula, but this sequel loses the grim surprise of the original without adding much new in terms of plotting or gory set pieces. Go to Full Review

Roth's dark humor and lacerating view of human weakness sometimes suggest George Romero; what he lacks is Romero's stubborn belief in personal morality. Go to Full Review

Sadly, the director's proven creative finesse has given way to boring self-imitation. Hostel: Part II gives us the same premise as the first film, changing genders and little else. Go to Full Review

Unfairly written off as a cheap and misogynistic cash-grab when it's actually a feminist horror film with a smart, relatable and queer final girl. Go to Full Review

Kylo M Dec 24, 2018 Its ok but if you seen the 1st one. You know whats going to happen for the most part. Explains the antagonist factory a lot better too. Once again it takes a long time for this story to go into motion. The multiple random unexpected twists late in the plot boost it a little more. Gore is lesser than the 1st. The very final seconds of the ending totally screwed up a possible great twist and a different could-be-but-now-lost jaw dropping ending. Not impressive but ok. See more
Draco S Oct 26, 2018 Its definitely not as good as part 1. The torture scenes don't have the same effect anymore. And the ending was pretty bad. The acting isn't as good and the plot feels more contrived. Not really a fan of this installment. See more
Oct 26, 2018 Fergus Stapleton. Not very good really. Slow, not much tension, main characters not very likable or engaging. This probaly seemed fresher and had more shock value in 2007. Good locations and a decent payoff at the end but overall very ordinary. Have come across a good few horror films much better than this that I'd never even heard of before on Netflix/horror channel. Abraham M Aug 8, 2018 Just like it's predecessor , Hostel 2 fails to have adequate character development which makes some character deaths feel somewhat meaningless. However , the acting this time around is better and the plot is also a lot more interesting. Honestly, with this film there isn't a middle ground ; you either like it or hate. With all its flaws , Hostel 2 is a decent slasher film that will entertain once you don't take it to seriously. See more
Ron G Jun 10, 2018 Honestly, this movie is quite underrated. Not only does it provide suspense, but it also demonstrates the consequences of impulsive thinking. The acting is also on point, since characters react exactly how you expect them to when being kidnapped. The atmosphere is also quite amazing in such a unique way since the audience is fully aware that the three women and isolated and have the entire Hostel working against them. This makes the atmosphere extremely tense because you are spending the whole movie anxious because you know the characters will face inevitable doom, yet you never know exactly when. The torture scenes, while not exactly my cup of tea, are also done very well since they are extremely difficult to watch, yet you are forced to look due to curiousity, which is something more horror films need to take inspiration from. Overall, Hostel Part II is a sequel which surpasses the original and is great for the family. See more
Luke W Apr 13, 2018 these kids are so annoying that you kinda wish they would get diced up. Only if the screaming would stop Eli Roth repeating the same old formula with a twist just doesn't work. See more
