Nick (Jason Bateman), Dale (Charlie Day) and Kurt (Jason Sudeikis) are workers who would like nothing better than to grind their oppressive employers into the dirt. Quitting their jobs is not an option, so -- fueled by alcohol and dubious advice from a criminal (Jamie Foxx) -- the men devise a complex and seemingly foolproof plan to permanently rid themselves of their terrible bosses. The problem is, any plan is only as clever as the brains behind it.

Horrible Bosses

What to Know

Critics Consensus

It's nasty, uneven, and far from original, but thanks to a smartly assembled cast that makes the most of a solid premise, Horrible Bosses works.

More often than not Horrible Bosses comes off as one of those comedies which feels more template than anything else. Go to Full Review

So, of course, a comedy of errors ensues since these everyday guys are the last you'd think could pull of such a dirty task. And man is it fun to watch it unfold. Go to Full Review

Fun, throwaway, unofficial remake of the classic 1980 workplace comedy Nine to Five. Go to Full Review

While the premise, of course, has no merit and is intentionally unbelievable, the movie still triggers more eye rolls than big laughs. Go to Full Review

Solidly entertaining, Horrible Bosses is the kind of flick Hollywood rarely makes well, or even puts out in cinemas, these days. Go to Full Review

Without the confidence or daring to truly embrace its macabre setup, this amusing-yet-dimwitted movie proves to be lighthearted and, even worse, rather pleasant from a moral standpoint. Go to Full Review

Hermione P Apr 20, 2019 Another funny movie with hilarious actors. This movie was very interesting and is sure to make you laugh. If you don't laugh at some point, I'm not sure if you're even human. See more
Kylo W Feb 17, 2019 An average comedy, with a great cast. Never really seems to evolve into a great story, just a few laughs along the way. The highlight was Jennifer Anistons performance, which was worth it alone. See more
Harry M Feb 1, 2019 I give it 1 million stars. I watched both films when they came out and i found them ok but i watched them recently and i absolutely love it. Now that I'm older i appriciate the jokes more. I love nothing more than Charlie's lovable acting and his attempts at seeming cool (my favourite actor). THIS IS THE BEST FILM EVER!!!! See more
Hagrid W Jan 4, 2019 Great little comedy, funnier than expected. It doesn't pretend to be award worthy or anything and it is great at what it does. Excellent chemistry between the cast helps a lot. See more
Hagrid S Dec 16, 2018 I love this movie ??????
Leia W Dec 4, 2018 Horrible Bosses. For years my brother has been trying to get me to watch this movie. And, when I'd told him of my reviewing of 'Along Came Polly' over Thanksgiving he pressed further, and had even loaned my his DVD 2-pack: HB 1 & 2. So tonight I'd watched the first one. Well kinda. I called it at 1 hr 12 mn. Maybe I just don't get comedies (Not true! As I watch 'Freddy Got Fingered' with Tom Green, audio commentary, like once a year), but I this film, like every animated feature out there - characters ping-ponging off of trees; thay and the incessant need to occupy every available space with some joke, insult, or another - was 'An Assault To The Senses'. Translation: overload. Though I'm willing to admit 'It's probably me', yet seriously, who watches a comedy by themselves? ('Fingered Fred' does not count; I watch that WITH Tom Green). So, I'm thinking of an experiment. At over an hour in, I'm probably - hopefully (though given the average runtime of 3.5 hours per the average popular movie these days...) - halfway through. I'm going to watch the remainder in his company, see if this changes my perspective. Paradox: when I watch South Park - alone, I laugh; when he does, he does not. Yet I'm the one missing the big gag of these big comedies aren't I? See more
