Critics Consensus

Sean Bean tries giving motive and emotion to The Hitcher, but director Dave Meyers is more interested in cheap shocks, and gratuitous gore and torture.

Sean Bean is too good for this movie. Everything around him is incoherent, rehashed horror schlock that we've seen a million times before.
