What to Know

Critics Consensus

Though the screenplay and the novel it's based on were both written by the same person, critics say Hanging Up is an unsuccessful adaptation. The acting is praised as solid, but is ultimately unable to save the film.

Ten minutes into it, you're making low moans. Fifteen minutes into it, you have plucked out all of your hair. Gone! You're bald, you're unhappy, and the movie's only just begun. Go to Full Review

Jun 9, 2018 I remember watching this movie many years ago and thinking it was entertaining and touching. I find it surprising the way EVERYONE on here just rips it to shreds. The acting was great in it and the story line does have a very human element. It's a good movie I think. See more
Han R Jun 6, 2010 The worst acting I've ever seen from Walter Matthau, but I do realize that he was very old and that this was his last film role. The whole movie is bad anyways. Too melodramatic and uninteresting. (First and only full viewing - 6/6/2010) See more
