Jazz musicians -- and heroin addicts -- Spoon (Tupac Shakur) and Stretch (Tim Roth) decide to get clean after their friend and bandmate Cookie (Thandie Newton) overdoses when she tries heroin for the first time. As they attempt to enter a detoxification program, however, they encounter a series of bureaucratic roadblocks. Worse, they are being hunted by both the police and drug dealers. Struggling with withdrawal, Spoon and Stretch reflect on the moments that led up to their predicament.

Todd McCarthy Variety May 2, 2008
An engaging look at a mangy day in the lives of two junkies trying to kick, Gridlock'd would have been a good mid-level B.O. performer even without the interest surrounding it, due to the recent death of co-star Tupac Shakur. Go to Full Review
Derek Adams Time Out Feb 9, 2006
The film has a fairly uninteresting narrative motor in its thriller subplot, but hits on an edgy black comic tone for Stretch and Spoon's increasingly pained dealings with the unsympathetic representatives of authority. Go to Full Review

The late Shakur is especially impressive as the brighter of the duo -- a frazzled but infinitely patient character with a touching faith that somehow, if the pair just keeps plugging away, everything will turn out okay. Go to Full Review

Hermione S Oct 3, 2018 A surprisingly effective comedy from the 90's with legendary Tupac Shakur co-starring. Tupac delivered a fine performance and didn't get lost playing with such a good actor as Tim Roth. The film is a caustic satire on bureaucracy and has some very hilarious moments, and its pacing is also good, no time for boredom. See more
Leia M Dec 7, 2017 With two solid performances about trying to break a heroin addiction and the troubles they find along the way in our flawed system. See more
