Though a misfit among his brainy family members, Massachusetts bouncer Doug Glatt has a knockout punch that lands him a spot on a minor-league Canadian hockey team.

Critics Consensus

Goon is a crude slapstick comedy with well-formed characters and a surprising amount of heart.

As the brutality ramps up, and the story gains real consequence, for some reason, we actually laugh harder. Goon is a comedy, often a very funny one, but you might be hesitant to call it that once you've actually seen it.

What stays with you is how lovably awkward and warm-hearted Scott manages to be in this role.

Utimately, Goon succeeds even within the comfortable criteria set forth by dozens of sports films that have come before it.

Liked this movie enough to watch it more than once. Great comedy movie that I'm surprised didn't make more money at the box office.

Great insight into how "goons" are viewed in a team setting. They are the heart beat of a team and this movie displays that accurately.
