What to Know

Critics Consensus

Noomi Rapace and Michael Nyqvist remain extraordinarily well-suited to their roles, but the second installment in Stieg Larsson's Millennium Trilogy doesn't pack quite as much punch as the first.

This is an enjoyable thriller: there's no shortage of action, intrigue and girl power. Go to Full Review

The second film is more efficient than the first, less concerned with getting all the story on to the screen. Go to Full Review

Director Daniel Alfredson taking over from Niels Arden Oplev, maintains the sometimes disconcerting mixture of violence and righteous investigation that characterise the series. Go to Full Review

Audiences familiar with The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, a capable if troubled mystery, will notice a sharp decline in the quality of storytelling here. Go to Full Review

Fire is better than Dragon because the new director, Daniel Alfredson, is less sadistic and more coherent. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

Luke G Mar 7, 2019 huge step down from the first. the lower-quality film making was more apparent. some of the most unexciting fight scenes i've seen. and there were numerous questionable parts. even if i ignore all that, this movie didn't have much to like. i got into the story early on, but it had trouble keeping me interested. and it just wasn't as intriguing as the first. Poe W Nov 27, 2018 Good movie but not on the same level as the first, got off to a slow start and moved much slower throughout. Still a great cast, plot and good twists. Would definitely recommend. See more
Theodore R Aug 30, 2018 Extremely boring. Nothing to do with the first movie "Dragon Tatoo" Different actress, boring and unattractive. Slow plot. Non-developed characters. What a huge, huge disappointment. See more
Anakin R Aug 9, 2018 3.5/5. Noomi Rapace and Mchael Nyqvist are both great, but the story isn't as interesting as the first film.
Ron W Mar 29, 2018 It's been some years since I watched the original version of Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, thankfully they kinda set up what happened from the first one so I wasn't too lost. This was its own story anyways with some connections to the first, easy enough to follow. A murder mystery, elements of The Fugitive, unfortunately this suffers from predictable ending. Still good for the most part. The poster for this movie is pretty sweet. See more
Albus P Feb 18, 2018 I like this more than The Girl with the dragon tattoo. More gripping and less gratuitous use of the female body and violence against women. See more
