Han G Aug 14, 2017 In this sequel the older girl who died in the first film is back again this time as a Ghost, while her sister keeps injecting herself with wolf's bane in order not to turn into a werewolf too.... but this time there is a special twist at the end of the movie, so all I can say, is add the sequel to the first movie and the continuity is outstanding!!!! Draco L Feb 18, 2017 Ginger Snaps Unleashed is the sequel to the excellent Ginger Snaps. It follows the story of the second sister bridget who is suffering from the werewolf curse and has been abusing a serum that slows down the transformation process but also has major effects on her body in the process. She ends up being hospitalized because of an overdose and right there is where we get introduced to our main characters as well as the main story. This movie overall is a really good sequel. The acting in the film is great and the tone and feel of the film is excellent. The movie really shows how much of an excellent actress Emily Perkins is as she gets to shine in the leading role despite. Or really having Ginger around to support her but she's excellent by herself. The new werewolf design is also very similar to the first film but is also excellent as well. This unfortunately is the final film in the current time as the 3rd film is a prequel so the movies ending never gets resolved altho it's fairly easy to see where things probably went despite not getting to see them. Abraham M May 16, 2016 What's starts off as a very promising sequel unfortunately devolves into a disappointing mess. Emily Perkins is back and is giving it her all but she unfortunately cannot overcome the shoddy writing that takes over the second half. The character Brigitte, whose growth from a timid and easily exploitable girl into a headstrong and savvy survivor, falls back into a gullible chump while an unbearably obnoxious new character (Tatiana Maslany's Ghost) takes center stage as the film progresses. Add to that the very frustrating decision to leave us on a cliffhanger ending with seemingly no intention of continuing the story. I don't know if that was the filmmakers or executives' intention but it was a bad one. There are some genuinely solid elements to this film, making it better than the typical bad sequel. As I said, Emily Perkins returning is a breath of fresh air; it's like she never left her character's shoes. The makeup effects are also really great considering the low budget and it is nice to see a genuine effort made to continue the story rather than do a lazy retread of the first movie. It's unfortunate, however, that the positives are mostly overshadowed by such wrongheaded story decisions. If the narrative focused entirely on Brigitte and kept her in the rehab center for the film's entirety then I believe that it would've been far better for it. As it is, there are glimmers of brilliance sprinkled here and there but it just mainly flat lines. See more
