What to Know

Critics Consensus

Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan charm in Mark Waters' nicely pitched -- and Disney's second -- remake of the 1976 hit.

The original made a fairly dire comedy. This version is much better, thanks largely to a sharper script and the performances of Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan. Go to Full Review

Pathos and levity are pulled with ease from both subtle moments and outrageously awkward ones, offering a dash of real magic alongside the illusory kind. Go to Full Review

I’d take this to a desert island with me. Freaky Friday is cinematic comfort food, with a familiarity that plays like your favorite meal, and performances from Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan that make them feel like family. Go to Full Review

Hermione M Feb 25, 2019 It's okay, the acting is good, but it feels like a cliche teen movie rather than a funny family movie.
Finn M Jan 29, 2019 Lindsay Lohan is the greatest.
Ron R Nov 10, 2018 This film was very bad.
Poe S Nov 1, 2018 A fun movie especially with Jamie Lee Curtis going wild during the switch and really making the movie what it is
Luke W Aug 27, 2018 A funny and clever adaptation. Jamie Lee Curtis gives an explosive performance that ultimately drives the whole movie. It initially comes off as standard teen psuedo-drama fare but it smartly blossoms into something much more suspenseful and even emotionally involving. See more
Hagrid S Aug 14, 2018 Freaky Friday is a film in every respect i SHOULD hate but i don't i say that because i cannot stand Lindsay Lohan. the premise is that a mother and daughter hate each other and see their own needs as more important until they literally switch bodies. The movie's main characters start off as unlikable, but move on and learn their lesson and become better for it (like Groundhog Day). Not only that but in the end they learn a valuable lesson from living each other lives that nobody has a perfect life and we all struggle from things on a daily basis. Also due to their mutual feelings of contempt for each other, the two leads have great chemistry because of it. This is the second remake of Freaky Friday but i haven't seen the other two all the way through but this one while not perfect (like i said the mother and daughter are horrible to each other in the beginning) i'd still give this a watch.
