While the acting is mostly impressive, the ending of the film leaves much to be desired as screenwriters E. Max Frye and Dan Futterman's script simply flutters to a close without much of an impact. Go to Full Review

In the back hour, the music quietly turns the screws, and Miller stops letting the air in, and I realized that a knot had formed in my chest. Go to Full Review

[Miller] is equally adept at portraying the peculiarities of wrestling here, and how those physical moves -- beautifully choreographed and executed -- sync with deeper psychological currents. Go to Full Review

The result is the quietly explosive 'Foxcatcher'; a somber rough-and-tumble look at moneyed mannerisms; the banality of clean white tennis shoes. Go to Full Review

What makes Foxcatcher a film worth seeing is that Tatum and Carell are fearless. They are monsters and they are absolutely riveting. Go to Full Review

As a subtle actor’s showcase, Foxcatcher is undeniably a triumph. Every frame is dripping with sincerity and an almost palpable sense that something awful is approaching. Go to Full Review

Rey R Apr 8, 2019 Well acted but glacial paced...and seems to actively try not to tell a story
Poe W Mar 20, 2019 This film really showcases a person with mental instability due to a failure in socialization. Issues with delusions of grandeur are especially important to logically address and this is often done by looking at a grounded vision of reality to contrast it to and by adjusting the mind's parameters to meet reality. Obviously du Pont has never had to do this because of his pampered upbringing and because of the absence of obstructions in his life. Getting what you want every time you want it is incredibly unhealthy for mental development and leads to dependency, being incapable of handling raised levels of stress, and limits your ability to interact with society. When delusions are left to roam and are unbridled they can lead to personal ruin and an unfulfilled life. It's important to have dreams, but more important to discipline your mind while optimistically looking at the future. The performances were all good, though I expected something a little more gripping than the end result that I got. Steve Carrell's emotionless Gremlin-like facial reactions throughout the film really helped to convey the character he was presented with, Tatum shined in his role too, though I was kind of surprised by the Oscar nod for Mark Ruffalo, personally. Anakin R Nov 8, 2018 This film was great.
Finn W Oct 13, 2018 Bennett Miller's Oscar nominee recounts the true story of billionaire John Du Pont wrestling with paranoid schizophrenia during his attempted mentorship of two Olympic wrestlers with chilling frigidity and melancholy nuances. See more
Abraham S Oct 9, 2018 Thoroughly impressed by Carell and Tatum. Showing a lot of range in this film. Sad story that will give you a lot of emotions throughout See more
Albus S Sep 24, 2018 I felt unfulfilled by this movie despite three great performances.
