Fort Bliss is a small film, but it addresses big issues, in ways that are never simplistic or dogmatic. Go to Full Review

"Fort Bliss" joins "Coming Home" and "The Best Years of Our Lives" as a movie deeply in sync, not just with the military characters it depicts, but also with the civilian world that awaits them with such confoundingly mixed messages. Go to Full Review

[A] well-observed and endearing account of one woman grappling with allegiances to her fellow soldiers and her estranged 5-year-old son. Go to Full Review

Leia R Apr 6, 2017 An Emotionally Rollercoaster. Being Torn Between Two Commitments Is Never Easy, Especially When The Workplace Is On The Other Side Of The World. Very Realistic Story With A Level Of Psychological Complexity That Isn't Seen Too Often In Military-War Stories. See more
Draco G Apr 1, 2017 This one is tough to watch. The recently returned mother doesn't suffer from wounds or PTSD, but she has a hard time fitting back into her life with her son and ex-husband. While she ends up deployed again by the end of the movie there is a happy future with her son on the horizon. See more
George R Feb 18, 2017 a touching story, but, slow moving
Hermione S Jan 26, 2017 An army medic finds herself alienated from her five-year old son having returned from a 15-month tour in Afghanistan. She is at a loss as to how to uphold her allegiance to the country as a soldier while being a good mother. She tries but of course it does not work as she is reassigned to go back to Afghanistan. Why does it work for men (fathers) and not for women (mothers?) It could have been more interesting if the film explored the gender issue deeper. A good performance by Michelle Monaghan (the mother) though. See more
