Driving cross-country to deliver a vintage Mercedes, Sean (Kerr Smith) does the one thing he wasn't supposed to do -- pick up a hitchhiker. From that moment on, his road trip is transformed into a surreal and terrifying nightmare. Sean's new companion, Nick (Brendan Fehr), is not the laid back, aimless traveler he seems to be. He is a hunter. And his prey is a roving band of forsaken youths who feed upon hapless victims found in the dead of the night -- in a word, vampires.

A rare horror film in which the heroes are better drawn than the monsters, this trips up because Schaech doesn't cut it as a master fiend and the car chases distract from the dread.

In small ways, The Forsaken disobeys the vampire sub-genre and attempts to stake out its own territory. The outcome is more pastiche than peerless, admittedly, but the few unique parts merit consideration.

It's bad enough that it's amateurish, but does it have to be boring too?

The Forsaken is an unsexy road trip movie that tries - and fails - to incorporate a 'vampires as AIDS metaphor' plot line. This is a dangerously boring genre film.

An average Vampire flick from the early 00's, while nothing too fancy it's an enjoyable film that keeps you interested.
