Tori Brazier Flickering Myth Jul 28, 2019
For Love or Money motors along, ticking most boxes for its genre, including timely changes of heart, comeuppances, comedy pets and a road trip. Go to Full Review
Frazer MacDonald Film Inquiry Jul 3, 2019
There are a couple of fun, breezy jokes, and there is a sense that everything comes to a proper conclusion, but the narrative is neither fresh nor funny enough to be a hit with the romantic comedy crowd. Go to Full Review

Poe M Mar 17, 2019 A thoroughly enjoyable British comedy with plenty of funny scenes, a great cast and Ivan Kaye as a special highlight with a standout performance as the female lead's father. Watch if you want to laugh! See more
Theodore P Mar 15, 2019 This movie, which I only watched on the recommendation of a friend, was the funniest thing I've seen in a long time. I'm not a rom com girl, I'm a murder, mayhem, and fast cars girl. This movie ticks none of those boxes and yet I was snorting and spilling my drink within the first three minutes. I scared my dogs because I was laughing so hard and during the Dad's speech, I actually had to stand up and leave the room (with the movie paused) because I couldn't breathe. I'll admit that I was drawn in by the cast (huge Pacific Rim fan over here so anything with Rob's silly face on it and such) but I was more than rewarded with snappy dialogue, genuinely funny plot, good pacing and a pair of female leads that weren't overly catty to one another and a pair of male leads that reminded me a bit too much of me and my roommate if I'm honest. Hands down one of the best movies I've seen in a long while and I've already blasted my discord server and group chats with messages to watch it. Wonderful job guys, really. I think I'm going to rewatch it now just for the extra giggles. See more
Theodore W Mar 15, 2019 This movie is definitely not a rom-com. It has a few of the trappings of one, but they're only used to flip the formula on its head and make it into something new. Mark has been awkward since birth. Connie has always been lovely and, from all appearances, popular and well-liked. Obviously, Mark has been helplessly in love with her for as long as he can remember, and she has no idea who he even is once they're all out of school an she's moved on to her great career of marrying a horrible man for his money. How can this be salvaged, you ask? Well, definitely not with an adorable meet-cute. It's more of a meet-cringe, and it sets the scene for everything that follows. If you suffer from secondhand embarrassment, be aware that you will suffer acutely because Mark may have just come into enough money to tempt his old flame, but it doesn't make him any smoother than he's ever been. The result, though, is worth every second of his embarrassment when he realizes she's only with him for his money and sets out to see just how far she's willing to go for that payday. Again, how can this situation be salvaged? She's a cold-hearted, self-absorbed gold-digger. He's a broken-hearted fool who wants to hurt her for hurting him, to pay her back for getting his hopes up that she could ever love a dork like him. And yet, it's genuinely funny. The pranks he pulls on her are as harmless as they are brilliant. For a while. And that's where the movie really starts to shine. Because it's not a rom-com, and neither of them are being honest. And neither of them is happy. It's surprisingly earnest for a that has thus far banked on snickery hijinks. Thankfully, it ends as well as it possibly could, and it's so, so satisfying. No trite, easy solution, but no mean-spirited gender-biased messaging, either. Not in the ending. Honestly, if not for one character who is genuinely creepy with his constant groping and creeping and general disgusting pig behavior, this would've gotten all 5 stars from me. It hits all the right buttons - excellent characters, excellent laughs, great dialogue, unexpected directions - but that one character is just too much of a skeeve to be funny. Especially in light of #MeToo, he's an off-note in what is otherwise a great movie about how no one is perfect, but that doesn't mean they don't have reasons for everything they do. And it doesn't mean you can't like them, even love them, anyway. See more
Anakin L Mar 15, 2019 Loved everything about this movie. Comedic timing was golden. Humour was on point throughout. Characters had me invested from the very first moment. I haven't cackled laughing watching a movie in a while and this kept me laughing the whole time while succeeding to tug at the heartstrings. Rob and Sam were both fantastic and I truly believed every moment of it. Would highly recommend to everyone and will be adding this to my comfort list of go to movies. See more
