Anton Bartok (Lee Richardson), the CEO of a research laboratory, acts as the self-appointed guardian of orphan Martin Brundle, whose father had been a researcher at the lab. Though Martin is scarcely five, he has the appearance of a 20-year-old (Eric Stoltz) because of mutant insectoid genes in his system. Martin grows up confined to the laboratory, unaware of his true nature, with only pretty scientist Beth Logan (Daphne Zuniga) to call a friend. Soon, the fly within begins to emerge.

The film is entertaining, surprisingly agile, and concise, but clearly inconsequential, in its time and now... [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

Director Chris Walas did the creature effects on the Cronenberg original, and he cares more about outdoing Aliens' special effects than about coming to grips with the stock characters, laughable dialogue, and uniformly poor performances. Go to Full Review

Stoltz and Zuniga are excellent in a wasted film, managing to get you interested in the characters despite the plot weaknesses. Go to Full Review

Stoltz is so innocent and blameless – so pure a victim – that the baddies of the piece, a bunch of evil, exploitative scientists, can be easily targeted and disposed of in the moral calculus of the narrative. Go to Full Review

Exactly what you'd expect from special effects and make-up artist-turned-director Chris Walas - too much emphasis on gore galore and scant attention paid to plot. Go to Full Review

Draco G Oct 10, 2017 Didn't find it as bad as people made it out to be. Definitely not as mind-blowing and stomach turning as the original, but it does a surprisingly good job on following it up, keeping in mind the aspects that made the first one such a memorable film in the horror genre. And If you're on fence, atleast watch it for the brilliant final 30 minutes. See more
Kylo S Mar 25, 2017 "The Fly 2" is an unnecessary sequel with more monster violence and gory special effects than the first, as we watch Brundlefly's son grow up and wreak havoc on a corrupt corporation. The plot is forced, and the acting is mediocre, but the use of practical special effects and scenes of laughably absurd violence provide at least some entertainment. See more
