Critics Consensus

Clever and appealing for both children and adults, Flushed Away marks a successful entry into digital animated features for Aardman Animations.

Flushed Away is sweetly silly and consistent - it is the perfect story for a few hours' respite.

This movie has so many ingredients that I should love... [but] I find the characters all to be unlikable.

Flushed Away, directed by David Bowers and Sam Fell, is creatively realized, especially in how it takes "found" materials underground and re-imagines London landmarks.

Fun to watch from start to finish with loads of funny little jokes that always manage to hit the spot. Fast paced, superb animation and very humorous with plenty of slapstick visual gags, one liners and clever use of product placement. The British themes and setting are great and although the characters are quite stereotypical, the voice performances are brilliant. The story is simple and a bit dated now and the ending was a bit of an anticlimax, but I really enjoyed it nonetheless.

Exceptional childhood classic and a pretty decent animated flick overall. What we have here are the efforts of the British studio Aardman and the whimsical talents of DreamWorks animation.
