This is genuine holiday joy-making, and the Rodgers tunes give zip and romance to the film. Go to Full Review

The plot is flimsy, but it serves as an adequate framework for the bright dances and some clever songs. Go to Full Review
Myles Standish St. Louis Post-Dispatch Feb 28, 2023
Breezy, appealing, splashy with color, wistful on occasion, and embellished by the tuneful score. Go to Full Review

The songs, by Rodgers and Hammerstein, are the show's best insurance, but a brilliant cast... handles this delicate bon bon of a story with all the sensitivity, wit and understatement that it deserves. Go to Full Review

It's wide-screen and dripping with color from the very beginning when Dong Kingman's brilliant-hued paintings illustrate the titles to the very final scene when everyone ends up happily, lifting their voices in song. Go to Full Review

Jan 26, 2019 The best romance movie ever made! With the best movie song ever sung: I Enjoy Being a Girl!
Aug 17, 2018 I immersed my self in this movie. I loved everything about the cast, costumes and story. At 75, I only remember the happy feelings I felt every time I hear the name flower drum song. I am so looking forward to Crazy Rich Asians. See more
Ron S Jul 7, 2018 Rodgers & Hammerstein's groundbreaking Asian musical is transferred to the screen virtually intact; Miyoshi Umeki charmingly recreates her Broadway role as does Juanita Hall; other leads go to Nancy Kwan who performs (voice-dubbed) the show's most popular song, "I Enjoy Being a Girl." Not great R&H, but colorful and enjoyable. See more
Harry M Feb 17, 2016 Entertaining enough, if anyone decided to remake 1961 musical "Flower Drum Song" the story would be completely rewritten because by today's political correct standards this is a movie full of offensive stereotypes. See more
