The plot and runtime had me hoping it’d be a throwaway of the Edgar G. Ulmer variety, but alas, it’s kind of a mess, made worse by the Mark Wahlberg character’s indiscriminate sadism.

It won’t win any awards for originality but Flight Risk is a fun, unpretentious, tight 91 minutes — especially if you’ve always jonesed to see Downton Abbey’s Lady Mary cream someone with a fire extinguisher.

Yes, there’s a solid piece of misdirection and nice double-double cross, but it’s hard to take the main antagonist seriously when does creepy things with twist ties and confesses to having "made a Jackson Pollock in my pants".

For a good chunk of [Flight Risk's] lean 91-minute runtime, no frame feels like Mel Gibson directed it, but rather a journeyman who kowtows to the studio’s demands with little to no personal flair behind the camera.
