Finding Steve McQueen

What to Know

Critics Consensus

Finding Steve McQueen's title invites thoughts of old-school action classics, but this energetic heist picture is disappointingly thrill-deficient.

This really is an uneventful film, edited into two time frames to disguise how under-plotted and underwritten it is. Go to Full Review

Finding Steve McQueen could have used more of the galvanizing spirit of its patron saint, but there's also much to recommend here, in particular its light-hearted energy. Go to Full Review
Frank Scheck The Hollywood Reporter Mar 14, 2019
Unfortunately, despite the fascinating story that provides its inspiration and a solid cast, the pic provides neither sufficient thrills nor humor to make it anything more than a minor diversion. Go to Full Review

It favours scenes of funny interactions between characters, with funny one-liners [...], and Travis Fimmel acting almost as "drunk" as in 'Warcraft'. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

Based on the true story of the biggest bank heist in US history, this film takes a sassy approach that keeps things light and amusing. Go to Full Review

Ultimately, this stylish and well-shot film has a fantastic pair of leads, a great premise, but absolutely no heart. Go to Full Review

Leia S Mar 30, 2019 Come For The Soundtrack, Stay For The Movie, Sleep Through The Credits Finding Steve McQueen is a love story disguised as a bank robbery movie. This is a Baby Driver wannabe, without the great production, direction and dialogue. If you've never heard of Travis Fimmel before, well, this film won't leave a lasting impression of him with you either. Finding Steve McQueen has 24 Producers, so if the tempo or mood or anything else seems uneven-there you go. Everything starts out exciting as a bank heist film, but then it flips to a love story and by the 1 hour marks it's ZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzz. The soundtrack is fantastic, so this is the movie you play in the background while doing something else, like surfing the internet. See more
