The central irony of Finding Dory is that Dory is a risk-taker trapped in a movie that, for all its likability, won't join her on whimsical leaps. Go to Full Review

Much like its titular character, it keeps swimming, and in doing so teaches all of us life lessons that we likely already knew yet still could use to revisit all the same. Go to Full Review

Harry R Apr 28, 2019 While Finding Dory is not as good as its predecessor it is still a very fun movie with a lot to love.
Theodore G Apr 13, 2019 First of all, this is such a cute movie. I watched it with my sister the most said word for sure was "aaaaawh". So expect a lot of that, but there was this surprisingly beautiful messages Finding Dory brought as well. If you believe in yourself you will always find a way to do what you want to do or get what you want to get. Apart from my love for the already known characters, I fell head over heels for all the new characters! All very cute, very friendly, and really cool animals. Everything was so beautifully animated and I still can't believe that they can actually create such beautiful films and with so many details. I love it. The voice actors were great as well, everything fitted perfectly and fell in place just right. Which, I think, does a lot for a movie. Although at one point I felt like it was going on for a bit too long, I still enjoyed it so much. This is a movie you can watch with people from all ages and should be shared with people from all ages because, well, it's just really good and so enjoyable. See more
Rey L Apr 10, 2019 "Just keep swimming. Just keep swimming. Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming." I'll start the review with a question, and then you can deduce from there what your thoughts on the film might be. Did you like Finding Nemo? If you answered yes, then you'll like Finding Dory as well! Pixar Animation Studios and Walt Disney Pictures continue to do what they always have. They have a formula they follow and in doing so, they produce hit after hit. Personally, the film underwhelmed me in most aspects. It didn't bring anything new to the table and was only the sequel that everyone wanted. I was hoping for more, but I really shouldn't have expected more. So far, Pixar has made sequels to Cars and Monsters, Inc., both of which were less than spectacular. Toy Story 2 and 3 were both well done and added to the story, however, all of the other sequels seem to fall flat and just rehash more of the same story from before. Back to Finding Dory; the movie was by no means bad. I don't want that to be the take away from this review. The voice work was well done, the animation as always was on par and there were laughs throughout. There is the introduction of some new characters like Ed O'Neil (Al Bundy from Married... with Children and Jay Pritchett from Modern Family) as the sarcastic and cranky Hank a red octopus (oops, make that a septipus) that helps Dory on her journey. Gerald (who looks like he's the long-lost cousin to Ed the hyena from The Lion King), an outcast sea lion, was an absolute riot and made the otherwise stale interactions with the sea lions far more tolerable. Oh, and don't forget the surprise cameo by Sigourney Weaver! The story picks up a year after the events of Finding Nemo. We find Dory whose short-term memory loss has worsened since we last saw her. What she can remember now is that she somehow became separated from her parents as a child. She wants to find them (that is, when she can remember she wants to find them). Throughout the film she has flashbacks, which spark more and more memories of her childhood and her lost family. Speaking of which, her childhood was spectacularly done. The animation and voice acting (the daughter of the producer) was great and outside of "cuddle time" with the otters, it was the cutest part by far. The film also managed to pull at your heartstrings throughout. Sure there have been more emotional animated films, but throughout the entire sequel you feel yourself rooting for Dory each step of the way, as much, if not more than you did for Marlin in Finding Nemo. I think the downfall to Finding Dory was the fact that the story just isn't fresh. It took what worked in Finding Nemo and changed the players, written by Andrew Stanton and co-written by Victoria Strouse (the writers of Finding Nemo). The writing also managed to take some "leaps" of faith with the believability in terms of what a fish can and can't do (a driving septipus...), not to mention the environments in which a saltwater fish can survive in. (Note to the writers: Saltwater fish cannot live in fresh water). Along with Pixar's standard formula mentioned earlier, they make sure to hit the ending out of the park by not one or two, but more like three happy endings. They make sure that everyone walks away with a smile and the memory that Pixar will never leave you hanging. Thankfully for the sake of the classics that Pixar keeps pumping out, it looks like they have realized when enough is enough. After Cars 3, Toy Story 4 and Incredibles 2, it looks like they are taking an indefinite hiatus on sequels after 2019! See more
