The mix of methodical investigative protocol and aberrant psychology against a twisty San Francisco backdrop (including a climax at Candlestick Park during a Giants game) anticipates Bay City thrillers from Dirty Harry to Zodiac. Go to Full Review

After Carpenter and De Palma, it may seem a little dated; yet Edwards' classical feel for pure cinema remains unalloyed. Go to Full Review

Even as "Experiment in Terror" tends to loosen its initially taut grip too often across an overlong 123 minutes, intriguing themes (and a deepening of the film's title) emerge in what unexpectedly becomes a triptych of women in the life of its villain. Go to Full Review

Harry G Mar 2, 2019 Mancini's best score. Gorgeous black and white cinematography. Excellent performance from the always underestimated Lee Remick. Not A+ noir, but it held my attention. See more
Draco M Jan 12, 2019 Not raelly as good good as Citisen Cane's, but I liked it even more betterer. A real corker!
Han W Dec 3, 2017 Pretty good. Blake Edwards attempt at Noir salted with Hitchcockery. It's so Noir at times, long shadows, and all, as almost to caricature the genre. But Remick, reliably terrific, & Holden make it work. Character disguise & obscuration is accomplished in extreme close-ups. The title's pretty quirky - and it's had several in international release, some better. Maybe just "An FBI Story" would've been better since they have the most screen time. And they come-off as we wish they really were - accessible & really there for those being stalked & harassed before the crime has occurred and hasn't yet crossed state lines. Of interest is the scene in Candlestick Park with the chopper descending into the stadium. Pretty bold for '62. And the price of the ticket: $2.50. That might've been expensive then! A loose-end never tied is why the antagonist was interested in the hospitalized boy. The sense is that he's an uncle who isn't really. But maybe he was ... And he has the look of the Unabomber at the end, presaging the hoodie in criminal attire. In all, a good yarn with two fine actors plus a young Stephanie Powers! Henry Mancini scores the picture in one of his first credited films, but you'd barely know it. Only a passage or two with his classic intonations. | ~ Norm de Guerre See more
Draco R Dec 5, 2016 Really scary great movie
Anakin M Oct 4, 2016 Dodgers-Giants playoffs at Candlestick Park. Vin Scully radio announcer. Drysdale facial closeup pitching. I think the movie channel played it cuz Scully just retired, and the Giants are in wild card playoff tomorrow. And Dodgers won the Division season.Wally Moon. Announcer sz tomorrow nites game starts 8:15pm!! Fisherman's Wharf restaurants, parking lot 75cents, sd sign. Famous cast, Ross Martin the villain master of disguises, (like he was in the Wild Wild West tv series). Blake Edwards director thriller. I'll give it a 3 1/2. But slow by todays standards See more
George S Apr 10, 2012 This stylish noir thriller is one of Blak Edwards' best films and one of the genre's highlights, well acted by Lee Remick, exquisitely shot by Philip Lathrop, and moodily composed by Henry Mancini, who contributes a great jazz score. See more
