There are striking performances from Luis Tosar as a cynical yet flexible producer and Juan Carlos Aduviri as the native who becomes a figurehead for those who don't have the luxury of playacting.

A fascinating telling of the making of a movie about colonialism that parallels the modern struggle of the Indigenous people. Shines a light on history and who gets to tell it and with what perspective.

Even The Rain is an emotionally gripping film. It's one of the films that leaves you staring at a wall, trying to come back to the real world. The emotional scenes are completely absorbent and the action scenes have one's heart racing. However, it has some weaknesses. The character development is not the best in a few cases. The most extreme of which is when Costa makes a somewhat unjustified decision, and his character ark is too sudden. The movie also sets an opportunity in the end for a perfect one-two emotional punch, and while the ending has significance it could've hit higher.

Raising some thought-provoking cultural issues, "Even the Rain" is a great modern film about the conscience of filmmakers.
