Six adventurous strangers travel to a mysterious building to experience the escape room: a game where players compete to solve a series of puzzles to win $10,000. What starts out as seemingly innocent fun soon turns into a living nightmare as the four men and two women discover each room is an elaborate trap that's part of a sadistic game of life or death.

Critics Consensus

Escape Room fails to unlock much of the potential in its premise, but what's left is still tense and thrilling enough to offer a passing diversion for suspense fans.

The cast projects a generic, 50s B-movie vibe, but in a good way; no one character is especially likable or unlikable, and this keeps you guessing as to whom the filmmakers will kill off.

The production design on this film is fantastic... I was dazzled from scene to scene.

Escape Room is not anything to get terribly excited about. But where suspense is concerned, the premise works: even when the trajectory of the story is easy to predict, there's no knowing what may be hidden behind any specific locked door.

Escape Room is a fun enough movie, but it’s nothing special. Watch it with friends and you will have a good time. Watch it alone at your peril.

If cool concepts alone made for good films then I’d be writing a very different review for Escape Room.

Escape Room is a fun ride, even with inadequate dialogue. Quite a bit of it consists of characters simply pointing out items as they enter the various rooms. It’s very possible, though, to overlook this because of the rollicking journey that follows.

Action packed thriller can get repetitive.

When you see this type of movie, the only things that attract you are "the way of die" and "how clue will solve", honestly both of them were more silly than I expect. The room design was nice especially the upside down room, I like the performance of Logan Miller, I think he was the best one in the movie.

Better than I thought it would be actually. Would watch again. Reminded me of Saw without all the gore. Would've preferred not to have a spoiler scene at the beginning of the movie. Without that it would've had more suspense for that character. Ending is set up for a sequel so we'll see if they mess up with that type of opening again.

I felt tension in this movie have a good end but some chrachters not die easy like this.

Good chemistry between the cast and interesting sets make what could have been a dull and formulaic production into some much more watchable. The film proceeds at a very well timed clip and never has to resort to anything other than suspense to keep the viewer on the edge of their seat.
