What to Know

Critics Consensus

While it strains credibility and isn't ultimately as profound as it might first appear, Enduring Love is still an intriguing thriller fueled by strong performances from Rhys Ifans and Daniel Craig.

It's heady stuff, though stretched too far for convenience. Go to Full Review

Though Ifans has the splashier role, Craig, last seen in Michell's previous film, 2003's equally provocative The Mother, is outstanding as a man whose philosophy cannot be reconciled with his feelings. Go to Full Review

An intelligent and gripping dramatic thriller, Enduring Love is a real rarity: a film better than the book it's adapted from. Go to Full Review

The whole film ... is not thrilling or moving; it is interesting, which is fine by me but will not make it a huge success. Go to Full Review

If you don't have the range to play anything other than the same sort of comedic role as an over-the-top human oddity, maybe you shouldn't try to ply your trade as a dramatic actor. Go to Full Review

Albus R Feb 2, 2019 A solid thriller with perhaps one of the most intense opening sequences in cinema.
Draco W Oct 8, 2017 Great story, great acting
Rey P Sep 13, 2017 The novel had it's issues but this is a bit of a mess to be honest. It all starts quite well with the excellently realised Baloon incident from the book being pretty well translated here (if a little brief). From thee it really struggles though, the central love relationship is never particularly well conveyed. Ifans stalker just doesn't make sense, he's not a fully fleshed out character so as a result just seems a bit pointless. Hopefully 'On Chesil Beach' slated for release later this year will do a better job like 'Atonement' managed. See more
