Vincent Canby New York Times Sep 26, 2018
"Dr. Phibes Rises Again" makes the usually dumb mistake of aspiring to be camp. Mysteriously, a lot of it works, probably because Robert Fuest, the director, knows just how long to hold an effect before it wilts. Go to Full Review

A lively, spirited sequel to The Abominable Dr Phibes, which misses the Se7en-like rigour of a plot structured around the Plagues of Egypt but still manages to come up with a succession of gruesome, black comic death scenes. Go to Full Review

Vincent Price, as Phibes, delivers one of his priceless theatric performances, and Quarry is a properly ruthless rival who nearly matches Phibes in knowledge and cunning. Go to Full Review

hampered by lots of post-production editing and squabbling that renders chunks of the film incoherent without voice-over narration and results in a film that moves in awkward fits and starts, lurching from deranged near brilliance to simple clumsiness Go to Full Review

Draco S Aug 17, 2018 Vincent Price was at his weirdest when he made this crazy piece of crap
Hagrid W Aug 17, 2018 Playing like an extended episode of The Avengers, and with a bonkers Vincent Price seemingly rehearsing his turn as Edward Lionheart in the following year's superior Theatre of Blood, this is Robert Fuest's camp sequel to The Abominable Dr Phibes. It's fun and fairly watchable, but it completely runs out of steam (and script) long before the desert climax. See more
Hermione M Dec 12, 2017 Just what the fuck is this move, and I mean this in the most enduring way. It doesn't help matters that this is the first of the Dr. Phibes flicks I see, but it will not be the last. Vincent Price plays the good doctor wearing a mask of his own face. Now with that being said that is where it kind of falls apart his real face just suppose to be a simple but realistic mask. He moves his face muscles too much to make feel like he is wearing a mask. Outside of that nit-pic it is a great flick. The gaudy coffins, Dr Phibes' outlandish outfits and speaking poetry while being dubbing himself, and a rival that gets thwarted by happenstance. Great murder scenes, almost like the doctor trys to out do himself. See more
Anakin G Sep 2, 2017 Sure, it's ridiculous that Phibes has a traveling, robotic band, speaks through a device on the side of his neck, and enjoys dancing with his assistant. But Price waxes poetic on the nature of life all the while subjecting his victims to some incredibly creative deaths. It's fun and quite gory at times. While not as good as the first, it's actually more entertaining. See more
