What to Know

Critics Consensus

Larry Drake's deranged performance as the titular doctor is just about all that distinguishes Dr. Giggles from its slasher brethren.

At this late date, the rules of the adolescent slice-'n'-dice genre have codified into ritual (teens + sex = death), suggesting that those who rent this may have bigger problems than just bad taste. Go to Full Review

The doctor's incessant giggling is supposed to represent the outlet of childhood psychological trauma, but don't expect Dr. Giggles to give Drake's performance a sympathetic or tragic dimension. Go to Full Review
Kevin Thomas Los Angeles Times Dec 4, 2018
Dr. Giggles is one horror comedy that actually is laugh-out-loud funny, a fast and frequently hilarious collision of gore and gags, and a tour de force of smart, sophisticated exploitation filmmaking. Go to Full Review

Dr. Giggles is good fun. Drake has a good supporting cast to help things move along at a good pace and there are a few neat practical effects scattered around. Go to Full Review

A generally uninteresting and unambitious slice of generic horror. The only thing remarkable is the rigor with which it places every possible double entendre about medicine and death on the lips of Larry Drake, who is at least having a good time here. Go to Full Review

No doubt Larry Drake owns the role and it’s hard to imagine anyone else playing the title character in [Dr. Giggles]. Go to Full Review

Han R Mar 22, 2019 I'm always looking for horror movies like this. Dr. Giggles is a awesomely bad and completely hilarious early 1990's slasher flick. The plot is actually awful but in the best way possible. A deranged doctor who has more one liners than Freddy Kreuger. The abundance of gore is a plus. The acting isn't that bad for a B movie. It goes by very quickly and has enough entertainment for a rewatch factor. See more
Luke G Aug 14, 2013 Silly campy slasher flick. Really fun horror movie that seems to have been forgotten.
Finn W Feb 4, 2008 The numbing familiarity of everything in the film just makes the cartoonish bits look ridiculous.
