Falls back mainly on army squad clichés and rote conflicts, along the way delivering a group of protagonists woefully short on personality. Go to Full Review

Regardless of the special effects, the plot, characters, and dialogue in the movie are what make it worth watching in my opinion. The relationships seem real, the dialogue is fun, and the actors really pull off great performances. Go to Full Review

A strong cast and plenty of zippy dialogue help speed along Dog Soldiers' claustrophobic stand-off between a circling pack of beastly predators and a group of British soldiers who'd rather be watching soccer. Go to Full Review

This one film certainly raised the bar for future werewolf horrors, although none come close to matching its unique bite force. Go to Full Review

Hagrid P Apr 26, 2019 Totally unnecessary killing of a highly trained dog in the first five minutes so f this movie. Idiots.
Hermione S Mar 31, 2019 Slow burning, nonsensical garbage. If you're in for some cheap thrills, bad graphics, and British accents, then give this film a go. Otherwise, don't waste your time on this tripe. See more
Draco S Feb 5, 2019 This movie is an extremely underrated horror gem. The movie does a really great job of establishing the camaraderie between the soldiers, these characters all have distinct well defined personalities and also really well written (and sometimes witty) dialogue that make you want to root for these guys. The movie's pacing is exceptional, it knows just how much time to spend building up and establishing these characters and the threat that awaits them in the forest and also it knows when to bring the action and scares. This movie also has a great musical score that helps sell some of the more intense scenes. I love the werewolf effects in this movie, the use of CGI here is very minimal, all of the werewolves are practical effects (full body costumes) and apparently, Neil Marshall got dancers to dawn the werewolf costumes to make them move more elegantly, and the werewolves in this movie are genuinely intimidating and menacing in appearance. The story is also well written, it's basically about this squad of British soldiers who are embarking on a routine military exercise but all hell breaks loose when their exercise is interrupted by a pack of hungry werewolves, the soldiers hold up at a house in the middle of the forest. The movie is easily one of the best werewolf movies I have ever seen and if you haven't watched it yet, I suggest that you do. See more
Harry R Jan 12, 2019 A squad of six British soldiers, including Private Lawrence Cooper (Kevin McKidd), are dropped into the Scottish Highlands, somewhat fed up about missing an Englands "Germany World Cup match. Expecting to carry out a training mission against a Special Air Service (SAS) unit, they only find the SAS unit's savaged remains. A badly wounded Captain Ryan (Liam Cunningham), the only survivor, makes cryptic references to what attacked them. Unseen predators then attack the troops. While retreating, one soldier is impaled by a tree branch, killing him, and Sergeant Harry G. Wells (Sean Pertwee) is attacked. He is rescued by Cooper and carried to a rural roadside where the group meets Megan (Emma Cleasby), a zoologist who takes them to a lonely house belonging to an unknown family. The soldiers who remain are Wells, Cooper, Spoon, Joe, and Terry. As darkness falls, the house is surrounded by the attackers: to the soldiers' incredulity, these are revealed to be werewolves. They try to get in the Land Rover but find it has been destroyed by the werewolves. The soldiers maintain a desperate defence against the creatures, believing that if they can make it to sunrise, the werewolves will revert to human form... Re-seeing Neil Marshalls "Dog Soldiers" was not a massive treat I must say. Saw it when it came when I was living in Australia. This is just a B-Action/Slasher horror film with 90s scene angles, pretty poor dialogue, so so effects and a not that intriguing storyline. It also has a very military macho set up which gets tiring in the end. I reckon Marshall was inspired by "An American Werewolf in London", "Assault on Precinct 13" and "Predator" when he wrote the script, and it is not fully working and the film is predictable as well. Even if we see some well known names like Kevin McKidd in the leads. No, this is truly nothing special I must say. See more
Han M Nov 24, 2018 Bitch soldiers who shoot dogs for no reason should be hung. (The beginning scene) The rest of the movie was rubbish
Kylo W Nov 23, 2018 A good blood and guts (literally) movie with lots of action and decent dialogue and story line. I had to tune in my American ears to the British accents so I didn't pick up all the dialogue but it really wasn't necessary. Low budget so Werewolves weren't state of the art scary and some of the characters morphing into werewolves didn't make sense but you need to be accepting of these things. Reminded me a little of The Thing (original version). See more
